The Indigenous Dance Foundation acknowledges that our work takes place across the traditional territories and homelands of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. Our organization is based in Toronto, on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Haudenosaunee, the Wendat, and the Chippewa peoples. These lands are covered by Treaty 13 and the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant.

Much of our work is carried out in Inuit Nunangat, including communities across Nunavut. We are deeply grateful to the Inuit communities who have welcomed us, shared their knowledge, and partnered with us to create meaningful opportunities for youth. We recognize the enduring stewardship, strength, and leadership of Inuit across these lands and honour the knowledge, languages, and traditions that have sustained communities since time immemorial.

We recognize that the ability to live, learn, and work on these lands is shaped by the ongoing impacts of colonization, including the displacement of Indigenous Peoples from their lands, cultures, and ways of life. Reconciliation requires more than acknowledgement. It requires listening, learning, building relationships grounded in respect, and taking meaningful action.

As an organization, we are committed to working alongside Indigenous communities with humility, reciprocity, and respect. We strive to ensure that our programs are informed by the voices, priorities, and leadership of the communities we serve as we continue learning and growing together.
